Thinking out loud

Shortening the Arm of God

Jesus always saw and did things beyond man’s limits.

“...whoever believes in me will also the works I do and greater work than those will he do, because I go to the Father.”
John 14:12

He saw as ordinary what man calls impossible.

He wants to move us out of the mindset that sees the impossible and take us into the “Unlimitedness” of God.

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Mark 10:27

Jesus always saw what the Father did, it was normal for him.

Jesus saw sleep where others saw death.  (Jairus’ daughter, the widow of Nain, Lazarus)

Jesus saw fellowship where others saw banishment.  (The leper, the unclean)

Jesus saw a road where others saw a raging sea.  (Walking on water)

Jesus saw healing where other’s saw God’s punishment.  (A man born blind.)

Jesus saw hunger where others saw greed.  (Zacchaeus)

Jesus saw world shakers where others saw a backward people.  (Disciples)

Jesus saw leadership where others saw impetuousness.  (Peter)

Jesus saw a broken heart where others saw waste.  (Anointing at  Simons’ house)

Jesus saw loneliness where others saw sin.  (Adulteress)

Jesus saw a beautiful gift where others saw waste.  (Anointing of his head)

Jesus saw opportunity where others saw hopelessness.  (The cross)

Jesus saw victory here others saw defeat.  (The tomb)

Jesus saw eternity where others saw nothing.

Our attempt to shorten the arm of God to make it reasonable and doable in our strength has bound us into our own prison of logic.

We have given too much value to our understanding, raising it above faith and trust, and in so doing, we have limited God to what we can encompass with our mind. As a result, “Have we made the ordinary, impossible?”

These are short meditations on some of the thoughts and ideas we receive as we read, study or ponder the things of God.
They are short blogs meant to cause us to think, explore, meditate or simply delight in the things of the Lord.
